Norway’s finest The Megaphonic Thrift are set to embark on a UK tour this month, playing a number of shows around the country. After releasing the brilliant A Thousand Years Of Deconstruction the band have gone from strength to strength catching the eye of A Place To Bury Strangers. The opportunity to see Megaphonic showcase their talents in such intimate surroundings is one not be missed.

They are playing the following dates:

We put out A Thousand Years of Deconstruction, six epic tracks of Norwegian alt-rock goodness guaranteed to have you hooked after one listen… The Megaphonic Thrift’s live show however takes it to a whole different level.

Deadly was invited out to by:Larm festival in Oslo to meet Scandinavia’s (and the UK’s) music industry, eat great seafood, drink expensive booze and generally freeze our arses of at every opportunity. I managed to do all of the above but most importantly I saw The Megaphonic Thrift perform live for the first time.

I won’t gush because I’ll sound biased but they were absolutely staggering. Many agreed they were the best band of the festival and definitely destined for great things. With my journalist hat on I’ll say they have shades of early Dinosaur Jr and early Biffy Clyro about them. They’re powerful, dynamic and uplifting & I can’t wait to hear the new material.

We like the idea of signing a Norwegian super-group of sorts…

Featuring Richard Myklebust of Stereo21, Linn Frokedal and Njaal Clementsen both of post-kraut rockers The Low Frequency In Stereo and Fredrik Vogsborg of Casiokids/Syme, The Megaphonic Thrift casually merge noise and pop with their take of 21st Century shoegazing.

Despite being together for barely a year, they’ve been hailed as Norway’s Best New Live Act, with a sensational loudness that sees the kids challenge My Bloody Valentines mark.

Their debut EP is out on Deadly Records in December.
