Drop The Lime + Bart B More + AC Slater @ XOYO, August 12th

We’re joining up with Brooklyn’s Trouble & Bass to present our summer party at XOYO on Friday, August 12th. Early bird tickets now on sale

Drop The Lime, Bart B More and AC Slater are three brilliant in-form DJs and producers who recently collaborated in New York and created some mighty tunes. Forming a great friendship the three of them hit us up to throw two sweaty parties in London and Amsterdam to celebrate.

Thank f*** for that friendship. Normally we could only put one of these DJs on at XOYO so we’re absolutely ecstatic to have them all playing within intimate surroundings. It’s going to be huge.

Drop The Lime (New York) recently signed a worldwide deal with Ultra Recordings (home to Deadmau5, Tiesto, Wolfgang Gartner) with his brand new album out in Autumn. His rockabilly enthused club music is taking the world by storm right now and the his DJ performances moving into legendary status.

Bart B More (Amsterdam) is at the peak of his powers. From being Laidback Luke’s favourite DJ to being amongst the elite of international electronic producers with everything he’s creating being in high demand. Be very excited about Bart’s set.

AC Slater (New York) is guaranteed to blow the roof off any venue. His production and remix credits are endless and his touring scheduled is non-stop. He delivers straight up, hard hitting sets that leave no one disappointed.

Get ready to make some noise. More details to follow regarding the joint single.

Drop The Lime signs with Ultra

New York’s Drop The Lime is snapped up by giant independent dance label Ultra Records with album due in September.

We sat here for a few minutes trying to think of a cool way to say how excited we are about this, but coolness and excitement don’t necessarily go so well together, so let’s just say that we are ABSOLUTELY DELIGHTED to announce that Drop the Lime has just signed a global deal with Ultra Records (home to the likes of Tiesto, Deadmau5, Chemical Brothers & Wolfgang Gartner).

Drop The Lime also debuted the live show last week at Music Hall of Williamsburg, and we gotta say we were a little nervous. But those nerves were quickly gone as the crowd went crazy for the entire set. All reviews of the show have been great and a first tour is planned to kick off in USA & Canada from end of September. Huge times ahead for the New Yorker.

Photos from Diplo @ Koko

A huge shout out to everyone who made it down to Koko for our show with Diplo. Ourselves and Red Bull couldn’t have asked for much more and the atmosphere was next level. The place was completely sold out and each DJ delivered a track perfect set.

Opening sets from Radi Dadi, Lunice and Dillon Francis got the crowd moving early on and by the time Sinden took to the stage the place was full.

As we’ve come to expect, both Sinden and Drop The Lime delivered faultless sets that saw the crowd peaking just at the right time for Diplo to blow the roof. Dropping all of the big guns from his arsenal Diplo absolutely owned it and just as you thought the crowd could rightly be a little exhausted after a frenzied 90 minutes, up steps Melé, the 19 yr old prodigy, who made sure everyone was dancing till the lights came on. With the likes of Mark Ronson, Skream and Benga, Diplo, Drop The Lime and his Grizzly label boss Sinden all marveling from the side of the stage, it really proved a coming of age for the hugely talented producer.

We took photos on the night so be sure to check out whether we snapped any of you. Full photo album available here.

2010 Highlights from some of our friends…

So to end the year feeling good we thought we’d get in touch with some of our close friends and artists to see what their best memories of 2010 were.. We wanted to know their favorite record, the best memory and their best meal! Here’s how they responded!

BRODINSKI

1) Favourite Album of the year (and why):
I can’t Choose Between 2 of them :

Rick Ross : “Teflon Don” — > he is the best rapper this year, the album gave me tears of joy. love the character too, he’s my hero.

Kanye West : “My Beautiful Twisted Dark Fantasy” — > He’s an artist, ‘all of the lights’ and ‘devil in a new dress’ gave me already so much souvenir. i use to don’t like him, he prove me i was wrong.

2) Favourite Moment Of The Year:
Miami Winter Music Conference, SXSW 2010, Spending a Month In New York City, Dour Festival in Belgium, Being In Studio With Shakira. Sorry i can’t Choose.

3) Favourite Meal Of The Year:
Burratta Cheese, Five Guys Burger, Tomato Soup.

BUSY P

1) Favourite Album of the Year (and why):

JOHN GRANT “Queen of Denmark”
Sad songs makes me happy

2) Favourite Moment of the Year:

For the last 5 years I keep saying “it was the best year ever”
Again today I was thinking, “fuck! 2010 was so good!”
Too hard to choose one moment honestly
oh i know i know, my real holiday break in Biarritz was definitly the best moment!

3) Favourite Meal of the Year:
With my crew in Shibuya at 110 Yen sushi
simple
classic
cheap
but so exotic and far from home

DJ MEHDI

1) Favourite Album of the Year (and why)
RICK ROSS ‘TEFLON DON’

2) Favourite Moment of the Year
The moment I heard ‘Over’ by Drake, the first time in February.

3) Favourite Meal of the Year
Breakfast.

SINDEN

1) Favourite Album of the Year & why

I really enjoyed the Big Boi record and the Oneohtrix Point – both totally different to each other. I’m a big ‘Kast fan & of Big Boi in particular, so it was cool he delivered the solo record that he was always capable of. Rap albums will on the whole mostly always fail you, so its good to hear one that makes me long for the rap long player where every track is unskippable. Oneohtrix Point gets played on the return leg of most car journeys from the last tour – perfect headphone soundscape music. To think I nearly passed this one – easy to do if you listen to it in a record shop – you’re like WTF is this shit!

2) Favourite Moment of the Year

Coming back from holiday and being greeted by the finished copy of the Mega Mega Mega album. It felt very real at that time. Also, not being able to avoid our single ‘After Dark’. You can’t be an artist and pretend to be aloof when you hear it being played – especially when its on daytime. We milked that moment for a few weeks.

3) Favourite Meal of the Year

This is the sushi master restaurant in Shinjuku, Tokyo (picture attached). I’ve had some unforgettable meals in Japan but this was food on another level though. You’ll never want to come back and eat sushi in London again. You jump in an elevator to arrive at a room that seats 10 people maximum. I would say really this is an ‘experience’, no everyday eating – just let the sushi master prepare individual pieces for you and ask his advice what is the best Shochu to compliment.

DROP THE LIME

1) Favourite Album of the Year & why

Emeralds – Does It Look Like Im Here?
a blissful and psychedelic duo that hint on tangerine dream and eno-esque melodies. A great contrast to all that banging techno and bass music.

2) Favourite Moment of the Year

The epic and fabulously lavish Catania Wedding of Shanilip. The food. The Sun. The people was all too beautiful of a vacation and debut wedding attendance to forget.

3) Favourite Meal of the Year

The raw Seafood marathon at Swan Oyster Depot in San Francisco. This tiny spot is only a bar and a few tables. Sit at the bar, chat with the chefs. Theyre all hot rod italian americans.. one chatted rock and roll and racing to me while shucking up some of the most delicious oysters I’ve ever had.

RITON

1) Favourite Album of the Year (and why)

I’ve only bought two whole albums that were actually realeased this year and one has 2 good songs and the other only really has 1, so I’m gonna say baths… I’ve fallen asleep to it a couple of times and that’s kind of what I look for in an lp.

2) Favourite Moment of the Year

Touring with mehdi has been none stop fun and laughs, anything starting with a w has also been a highlight for both of us, wine, weed, weather, wood, wu tang clan, world wide web and of course women

3) Favourite Meal of the Year

I eat a falafel wrap from the same health food shop 3 times a week and it’s always amazing, big up my village on chalk farm road!

JOE AND WILL ASK

1) Favourite Album of the Year (and why)

Caribou – Swim. Not much to say about this album that hasn’t been said already, but this is the most interesting electronic music has got in a long while. The songs are amazing, the sounds and production techniques are innovative, and even if you look at it as nothing more than dance music, it’s still awesome.

2) Favourite Moment of the Year

Finally getting the speakers working on our friend’s roof party. Everything was right – the sun, the booze, the people. Just one of those days

3) Favourite Meal of the Year

Will’s €30 crustacean fondue from Ghent. How we laughed when the waiter came and said “is everything OK with your meal? would you like some more crustaceans?” gross!
