Put together around September 2010 while being uninspired by chillwave – a genre that’s largely derivative, dull and lacking any songwriting ambition. These bands below are definitely not part of that scene. In fact they gave us faith in new bands writing great songs. Twin Shadow, in particular, are of our favourite bands of the year. Great album.

I discovered Wild Nothing while in Tokyo at a shop called Escalator in June, which is like a fantasy record island. June was a particularly amazing month for music and bringing back the summer memories of London, I still listen to these bands a lot. The video to Mock & Toof is great (directed by Trevor Jackson). Little Dragon are still one of the most under-rated pop acts around and Telefon Tel Aviv’s album is superb. Wes Anderson’s The Fantastic Mr Fox also plays a part about halfway through.

Put together in May 2010, this was our first Spotify mix. Mainly classic weird songs that help change the atmosphere. Surfer Blood is a band we fell in love with instantly. We ended up working with them via Drop The Lime who did an incredible remix. Nice people.
